I'm Eugene McNeil — founder of The McNeil Group, disabled veteran, father of nine, and a St. Louis homeowner just like you. I started this company in 2002 with one thing in mind: treat every single person with respect. Not just customers — everyone. The guy hauling materials. The subcontractor on the tile. The homeowner watching over my shoulder because they've been burned before. Every single person deserves to be treated with dignity. That's not a policy. That's just how I was raised.

When I came home from serving my country, I came back with a disability and a family counting on me. Nine kids. A house that needed work. And a list of contractors who saw a veteran with a big family and figured they could take advantage. Overcharging. Cutting corners. Disappearing after the deposit. I know what it feels like to trust someone with your home — the place where your kids grow up, where your family eats dinner, where you're supposed to feel safe — and have them treat it like it doesn't matter.

That experience lit a fire in me that hasn't gone out in over twenty years. I didn't just want to do better than those contractors. I wanted to build something that stood for the opposite of everything they represented. So in 2002, I founded The McNeil Group. No shortcuts. No smoke and mirrors. Just honest work, fair prices, and a crew that shows up when they say they will.

My motto — the luxury look without the luxury price — came from watching families settle for less than they deserved because they thought quality was out of reach. It's not. With the right team, the right materials, and someone who actually cares about the outcome, you can have a home that looks like it belongs in a magazine without paying magazine prices. That's what we do every single day.

Over two decades later, we've completed more than 500 projects across St. Louis. Bathrooms, kitchens, basements, man caves — spaces that families live in, gather in, and are proud of. Every one of those projects has my name on it. And I take that seriously. My military service taught me that your word is everything. When I tell you I'll be there, I'll be there. When I tell you it'll be done right, it'll be done right. That's not a slogan. That's a standard I hold myself to every single day.
